B&B POTATO
—

In 2019 Bud Rich Potato of Hermiston Oregon and Balcom & Moe of Pasco, Washington joined forces to form B&B Potato specializing in fresh potato production from the Columbia Basin in the Pacific Northwest.

The collaboration allowed for both farming operations to consolidate, creating a single, state-of-the-art packing facility able to provide consistent, high-quality product to customers year-round.

The B&B Potato production facility is located in Pasco, WA and is supplied by farming operations in both Washington and Oregon.

The farms geographically separate their production and provide early season potatoes and high quality storage potatoes for late in the marketing season. The facility now has product available to customers 12 months out of the year.

OUR POTATOES
—

B&B Potato specializes in growing and packing of the Russet Norkotah, a potato with medium brown skin which is favored for its classic, smooth, oval ‘potato’ shape and its resistance to internal defects. Russet potatoes are ideal for baked potatoes, mashed potatoes, and of course, the French fry.

Russets are cholesterol free, sodium free, fat free, and provide 45% daily Vitamin C, 18% daily Potassium, 15% daily fiber, and are loaded with many other trace minerals such as copper, manganese, phosphorus, pantothenic and folic acids, as well as 3g of protein, and vitamins B3 and B6.

Russet potatoes have a mild earthy flavor, low in moisture and high in starch which leaves them light and fluffy when boiled or mashed, and a rich golden brown when fried.

B&B Potato markets its potatoes through Potandon Produce  of which both entities are original owners.

— STORAGE —

Climate controlled storage facilities are one of the most critical aspects of commercial farming. Temperature and humidity controls allow growers to store potatoes for up to one year if necessary. Storage facilities are cool, dark and well ventilated to accommodate for long term storage of the potatoes.

Throughout the winter, growers will slowly warm up a storage facility before it’s opened and the potatoes are brought into the packing facility for grading. This allows a process that breaks up the crop into small lots which can be regulated against disease and other concerns that could impact quality.

Storage is critically scheduled and opened as the winter and spring progresses into the summer months. The technology is constantly applied to insure high quality potatoes can be delivered each and every week of the year.
